My DEAD Little brother was KILLED by a DRUNK DRIVER
so CRAM it where the SUN does not shine.

To you it may be a MoleHill, to others that have suffered
it is a MOUNTAIN.

You are entitled to your opinion, which is why we hold elections. If he had shot someone 24 years ago, your opinion would be different. The issue here is that in my opinion, there is no difference between blindfolding yourself and discharging a firearm in a busy intersection, and driving drunk. And if you are comp[aring GW to WIllie Nelson, then you have said all anyone needs to hear about Bush. DUI displays a callous disregard for the lives of other, and I for one don't give a flying shit if it happened yesterday, or 24 years ago. The man was 30 years old, for God's sake. And what is with this BS that it was looked upon differently? We're not discussing the 1950's here.

Just my opinion....

Dale, I agree that we've all done stupid things in the past that we now regret. If I chose to run for President I'd have to spend 2 years confessing all my sins. That would leave about 2 days for a discussion of issues. Hence, I'll stay out of the limelight and keep all my skeletons packed away.

Where Bush is concerned...I don't think the DUI conviction sheds any light on his ability to be President. I didn't think Bill bopping Monica affected his ability either- probably made him happier to be around though. However, I believe the personal decision he made during this campaign to hide that fact from the public says volumes about his own lack of character. He's been stomping around the country dragging Clinton and Gore through the mud claiming the moral high road as his own. The fact that he's no different from the others, at best, causes me to wonder what more is there I should know about. In the worse light, it says he can't be trusted any more than any other politician. With my jaded view of politicians who claim morality as their own, I'm left with voting for the candidate whose stand on issues reflects my own. That's while I'll vote for Gore....and I'd have voted for Clinton a 3rd time if that were possible. Yes, I'd expect more BJ news coming from the oval office....but I'd feel comfortable knowing that when he was finished his business he'd be working on mine too. That's more than I can say for Bush
