Oh, how about the death penalty for first time offenders. Seems you can change your spots if it's the enemy you're after. Check the Texas laws from 1976. alan w

First, it was a DUI, not a DWI. Second, it was in 1976. Times were alot different back then. On many occasions, police would just make the driver pull over and sleep it off.

His license was suspended for two years. In those days it wasn't uncommon to be let go if you were almost home. Bush was less than a mile from home, the cops were pretty tough.
