The reason was that before running for public office, each candidate has to declare past convictions even of the slightest nature Since we don't have this rule in the States, nor has Bush EVER denied having been in trouble when he was younger, I think you have provided all the evidence necessary to contradict your prediction. Bush is NOT "toast"... Certainly not as a result of this story. Now if the Gore operatives come up with something else, that may become an issue. Btw, has anyone noted that his record was "expunged" in 1993 in Maine?? Since expungement, as I recall, involves completely removing all traces of the record, it begs the question as to how this was discovered, and why it was released now. Regards, Ron
