Don't panic about equipment makers warning. The slower new fabs get built and outfitted with equipment, the longer the semi boom can last.

Petz,

Actually I was trying to figure out how serious it was....Al and I did some research and then reported what we found on the other thread. While I think there may be some slowing in the equipment makers business, KLIC's problems look to be company specific.

While other equip. makers reported a sequential increase in revenues (from June to Sept)and are expecting flat to increased revenues for the Dec quarter, KLIC has warned of a major drop in revenues....$100+ million....from $268 million in June to somewhere between $140-165 million for the Dec. quarter. This is their second warning in two months. Furthermore its now the first week in November and they have yet to report their Sept. quarter. Granted its their annual report and they are permitted more time, however, if I were them I would have had that report out in October in light of all their warnings.

The bottomline is that looks like KLIC's severe problems are more of their own doing than a industry wide phenomenom. That's not to say the semi equip. makers' business isn't slowing but things do not seem to be as bad as KLIC's warnings would indicate.
