Dan3:

Couldn't resist...Had to pick up some more this AM when it slipped back below $23.50...About to be inundated with just too much good news to stay in the $20's much longer...

Dan,

re: < Thanks for another impressive piece of work. >

you're welcome.

< Have you considered posting a link to it from the Intel thread to see if any of the longs there have any thoughts? >

No, but I'm sure some of them read this board regularly.

Intel is such a big company (revenues, number of employees, market positions, etc.,) it can use different accounting tricks to show low level numbers the way it deems important to maintain its image. Nothing illegal, or unethical about it. Please note that I'm referring to divisional level information, not the earnings report.

Their size also allows them to use many financial engineering tools (all legal) to manage their eps by about +- 15 cents per quarter to smooth out the variations in their operational income as well as to produce additional income by other means eg: stock buy backs, capital gains, put warrants, employee options, accounts payable, goodwill amortization, distributor charges, acquisitions, etc.

Their decision to include capital gains as regular income benefited them last few quarters, but recent market decline changed this into a tough situation going forward. They were fortunate not using put warrants in Q3, or going into Q4. I'm working on putting together some details on Intel Capital, and Intel cash position for the last few quarters. I noticed some interesting patterns in this area, and I will post my analysis in a week or so.
