11:16 ET Covad Comms (COVD) 5 31/32 +9/32 (+5%): Modest rally being attributed to speculation that SBC Communications (SBC) will purchase the remainder of the company. Surprised that it has taken this long for rumor to make its way to market given that it has been more than 6 wks since the companies entered into an alliance. The deal involved SBC making a $150 mln investment in COVD. .
