Alcatel Space Confirms Russian Contract For 3 Satellites

Dow Jones Online News, N/A

PARIS -(Dow Jones)- Satellite group Alcatel Space, a unit of Alcatel SA (ALA) and Thomson-CSF (F.CSF), confirmed Friday that it has received a contract to supply three satellites to Russia's telecommunications company Kosmicheskaya Sviaz between 2001 and 2003.

A spokeswoman at Alcatel Space said she couldn't provide details on the financial terms.

However, industry sources have pegged the contract's price at $100 million for the three payloads.

Speculation about the contract emerged earlier this week while Russia's President Vladimir Putin was in Paris for a three-day visit.

Alcatel Space is 51%-owned by Alcatel and 49%-owned by Thomson-CSF.

Former Mrcrosoft CFO is CEO of 360network(Worldwide Fiber).
Not only ALA will provide cable and gears, they will also design the entire network.

I did not realize they recently has risen well over 1.O billion $ in credit
in addition to 1.5 billion is cash from IPO.
Now I recall that in 1999 former Newbridge got contract for edge/access
gears for IP,DSL and LMDS services.
Now we have this huge 1.5 - 2.0 billion)(US) optical deal with Alcatel.
360pacific will be a 22,000 kilometer (13,600 mile), six-fiber pair, 4.8
terabit-per-second, submarine cable that will connect the United States, Canada and Japan.
Alcatel will be responsible for the network design, as well as the supply and installation of
submarine transmission and protection equipment, including cable, repeaters and terminal
equipment in a contract .
