There are two things I can think of that this administration has done that is positive for the economy. First and foremost was losing control of congress in 94 and second was support of trade agreements that in theory reduce barriers for commerce. Past that, I would love to hear what they have done that is a positive for the economy. I have yet to have that question answered by a clinton/gore supporter. Was it midnight basketball? Was it the push for hate crime legislation that is purely style over substance like the bulk of their ideas?

Hold on now. Don't be so quick to give Clinton/Gore credit for the surplus. If not for the Republican control of both houses, the surplus would not have happened. Remember, they stopped or limited many of the proposed spending programs. Plus, if the Republican Greenspan had not kept the economy in check, one can only guess what might have happened.

Now, Gore's health care proposal scares me. Bureacratic control of drug prices will ultimately slow or limit the new drugs entering the market. If drug companies are limited by the government in recapturing their R&D costs, then the development of new cures and drugs will slow to a trickle. Plus, it will aid in the growth and interference of government in our daily lives. Bush's plan is far more realistic. It offers protection and does not kill the drug companies. Gore's plan is an increase of socialism in our government while Bush's plan places more emphasis on individual rights and responsibilities.

Why do these things keep happening?

Reno sets investigation of aborted drug probe

By Jerry Seper
THE WASHINGTON TIMES

Attorney General Janet Reno yesterday ordered an investigation into accusations by five Houston police detectives who said they were pulled off a yearlong undercover drug probe after a key suspect in the case met with Vice President Al Gore.

Miss Reno ordered the probe amid accusations of "political interference" by the Houston detectives, members of a joint Drug Enforcement Administration/ Houston Police Department task force. The case was shut down two days after the probe's key target, Houston rapper James Prince, met with Mr. Gore at a Houston church.
She also ordered that DEA agents in Houston be removed from the case and replaced by "a new team of experienced special agents" from other offices — assisted by FBI agents, who also will be assigned to the investigation. She said the new team would be in place in a week..............
