Analog Devices To Invest $50Mil In India 11/02/00 -- Nov 2 2000

NEW DELHI, INDIA, 2000 NOV 2 (Newsbytes) -- By CT Mahabharat, Newsbytes. US-based digital signal processing (DSP) product giant Analog Devices [NYSE:AMD] plans to invest up to $50 million in India over the next five years.

The company has so far invested $10 million in setting up facilities and hiring more professionals.

The company has been operating in Bangalore through its India Product Development Center (IPDC) for the last five years. The plan now is to grow to a 250-strong employee operation by 2005 from the current strength of 60 engineers.

"Over the last five years, the Bangalore center, which is quite strategic to Analog Devices, has delivered three key DSP products. The next stage is to expand the existing activities and pump in huge investments," said B. Reddy
Penumalli, managing director of Analog Devices' IPDC. "The focus of the development center is both on DSP design and software development."

In the last five years, IPDC has developed three DSP processors, including the ADSP-21065L SHARC DSP, and recently introduced the ADSP-21161 SHARC DSP chip, which is claimed to be the first SHARC DSP fabricated in 0.18 micron silicon technology.
