<However, there are a lot of people that view the government as the solver of their problems and honestly think Gore has their best interests in mind>

I heard a snippet of his LA speech the other day on NPR he was talking about uninsured etc. and said something about democrats being the party to "lift up" those people. I was very surprised that he would still be talking like a 60's liberal.

Tell me Stock Profit how does a severely disabled child dependent on Medicaid born to parents with only high school educations "make it happen" for himself?

Or a woman with no high school diploma because she had to leave school as a teenager during the Depression to help support her family and was then widowed during WWII with two dependent daughters who is now 83 and impoverished despite a lifetime of full employment with no pension other than Social Security and no health care coverage other than Medicare "make it happen for herself?"

I think they trusted themselves, did the best they could and unfortunate events and circumstances turned against them. And yes, there's a ton of them in America with similar stories who through no fault of their own got handed a shitty deal.

And you would have them turn where?
