6 months or 3 months doesn't make that much difference, I think the best someone could do is guess on that figure anyway and its probably somewhere in between. Obviously that growth can't possibly march on forever, like Moore's law it has a natural limitation somewhere.

The story I like that demonstrates the power (and limitation) of exponential growth is the lily pond story. Skip it if you've already heard it:

You have a lily pond with one lily pad. The number of lily pads doubles every day for thirty days until the whole pond is covered on day 30. Now on what day was the pond half covered? How about a quarter covered?
