I just looked up a bit about Tom Connelly. This 2000 Maine Dem meeting suggests that he still needed help with his 1998 campaign fund raising...

I wonder if any money changed hands with this little piece of "dirtytricks"....

Wonder if the press will look into that...

Also, some of the info states Tom Connelly is an attorney in Portland, Maine.

Welcome

to the news and views from our State Party
(Edit: this was part of the Old Business Section of the page....)

Bill Bryan announced the committee is reviewing the pros and cons of party structure
and
caucuses. They want to open this up to the DSC for suggestions. The best way to
contact
the committee is to email Bill Bryan and then he will email the information to the
committee members.

Charlotte Herbold asked about the status of us assisting Tom Connelly in
paying off his
campaign debt. She announced she is holding a fundraiser at her home in
February.
(note: the bold is mine)

Gwethalyn responded that several County Committees have donated or plan to
raise
money soon for this effort.

Republican Jim Longley's 19 percent and Democrat
Tom Connolly's 12 percent.

(Results published here are as of Wednesday
morning, Nov. 4, with 91 percent of precincts
reporting.)

MAINE -- Angus King, Jr. (I) elected in 1994 (35%).
Independent Gov. Angus King, who made a name for himself by hosting
a
long-running TV show, is seeking re-election and appears to be popular.
Still, the two major parties have fielded candidates against him. The
GOP
nominee is former congressman Jim Longley, whose father served as an
Independent governor in the mid-1970s. The Democrats selected Tom
Connolly, a Portland attorney. But Longley, a conservative, lost his
re-election race two years ago, and King has great appeal among
Democratic voters.
