The trouble with you Americans is that "Conspiracy" has been turned into a label of mockery.... The French also have a similar expression, that is, "théorie du complot", yet, it's not meant to lump together each and every lunacy or fantasy, however wild they happen to be!

By labelling any un-mainstream opinion a "conspiracy" Americans stoop to being the lackeys of The Official Truth as broadcast by the CNNs, the NYTs, and the BBC Radios.... Hence they overlook that mainstream truth is as conspiratorial as the maverick one. As I once put it, conspiracy is a two-way street. Obviously, it's not politically correct to picture our brave mainstream journalists as big money's pathetic yes-men....
