SPEC2000 is certainly debatable as a "primarily important benchmark," but Quake 3? Isn't Quake 3 pretty much the de facto standard for every hardware review out there, from processors to chipsets to 3D cards? If Pentium 4 does indeed perform very well on Quake 3, I'd think even the most anti-Intel reviewers out there (like Herr Docktor Uberclockermeister) would not be able to pooh-pooh those results without looking like hypocrites.
