one of the most famous photographs in history

I can think of only two people from my hometown who have been seen in photographs at the national level, and one of them was a Marine in the Iwo Jima photo. A full-size replica of the sculpture is on the grounds of a Marine academy in nearby Harlingen, TX. After having seen the photograph so many times, I was surprised at how emotional I became standing next to the large sculpture.

The other person was a pretty young lady who became a "stewardess" for American Airlines and was included in TV and print ads in the late '60s. Her fame, of course, was more of the 15-minute variety in relation to the Marine.
