Qualcomm showed at the annual meeting its Condor system which was designed for military use to talk among multiple handsets at the same time. I don't know how elaborate that conference would be to set up, but I bet it was designed to be quick and simple. This is similar to the 2 way radio principle.

CDMA 2-way radio: data call, broadcast to multiple internet addresses, voice over IP. Similar to sending email to multiple people except instead of text your sending speech. Would also be push to talk like Nextel system.
