Thanks Alan. I haven't kept up with the thread lately.

I suspect my question (if honestly answered and used as a criteria for public office) would alleviate about 95% of the men over 45 for running for office.

We learned a lot from the mistakes of past cultural behavior. One strong lesson was that driving with a can of beer in your lap, wasn't smart, nor cool. And was extremely dangerous.

For a person the size of George Bush (I'm guessing about 150 pounds) three beers in an hour is all it would take to blow a .10 BAC.

Three beers in an hour was considered by most people as practically nothing to consume prior to driving a car in 1976.

From what I recall, Del is a builder. My best friend is a builder, and I've hung out with his subs quite a few times. Most of the building trade people still drink that much beer and drive a car routinely.

Sting operations in our county today (where they pull over 10 cars randomly), have resulted in over 25% DUI rates on a typical Friday night. It's not right, and many in our culture are still struggling with the concept of a "designated driver". But it's a reality we still live with.

But when compared to 1976, we're practically stone sober drivers.
