Kevin,

I hope the Bush campaign paid you well for the use of FuzzyMath. Did you happen to secure "mala matematica" as well? I see that's the one Gore's been fond of on the stump in Las Cruces, to describe how Bush can spend a trillion twice.

I have to admit to being completely clueless. If the awl bidness claims they only want to rape, pillage and despoil
0.00001% of ANWR, why's the Gore team so adamantly opposed? Seems completely mad, unless they've reasoned that it should be some sort of rainy day account for the time when the U.S. can no longer produce (what is the figure?) about 35% of its crude oil needs. I'm just so bamboozled by the lies on both sides of this issue I'm not sure I can be expected to make a rational decision on what should happen here. Not that anyone is asking me to do so. :)

Paying bills is an honorable thing fuzzy, glad to hear you're up to it. I do wonder how Mr. Bush feels about the investors in his first wildcat operation in Midland that netted him $850,000 and cost them $2,000,000. I reckon that's different. That would be in the 'capital at risk' category. Silly me.

We won't have a sensible energy policy in this country unless Bush is elected. My friend, you are making me laugh, we won't have a sensible energy policy in this country if we elect any politician. Especially not one with ties to da awl bidness. Good grief, I believe we are far more likely to see the return of the likes of Albert Fall and Edward Doheny than anything resembling sense.

Best, Ray

That's great fuzzymath.
I own bushshouldconcede.com

Back to Calpine, it appears that Calpine is building a base at this level for the next move up. It went up very far and very fast this year, basically an unsustainable rate. This is a great entry point.

Rising natural gas prices may cut into Calpine's short term profits, but long-run, it makes high-efficiency new power plants (i.e. Calpine) an even more compelling proposition. I have been tracking oil and natural gas prices for the past 12 years. This is the highest ng price compared with West Texas Intermediate oil since I have been tracking. On a BTU equivalent basis, ng is now more expensive than WTI. NG usually sells at a 10-20% discount relative to WTI.
