The benchmarks are pretty much universally confirming that the path AMD has been going down for the past few years has been the right path. That the motherboard manufacturers had to do a little engineering on the first boards is just not an issue.

The backorders are going to be getting longer, not shorter, no matter how fast AMD ramps chipset production, since these systems are clearly huge hits. We can live with that. I notice that Intel is pretty much paying people to haul away 820/Rambus Motherboards these days.

Did Intel have the foresight to use enough gold contacts in their 820/840 motherboards to keep them attractive to scrap dealers? It may become the key factor in their saleability.
