Steve, unfortunately you are right about the DOJ.

My reasoning is that INTC's "no DDR" deal with RMBS will cost it billions in sales of chipset and, indirectly, CPUs. If INTC could get out of that deal and purchase a license from RBMS that freed users of INTC CPUs from RMBS lawsuits, it would reverse the situation and deal a serious blow to both VIA and AMD.

Fortunately, INTC doesn't have to acquire RMBS to accomplish this goal. A very expensive "license" would do the trick and the DOJ would be hard-put to stop it.
