Scott,

Believe it or not, I have better things to do than to prove myself to you. I have always liked Billat and still do, even though she recently downgraded one of my largest positions VSEA<gasp!>

Re: Neither is making a specific point of coming over to this thread to paste information, with self-interest bias your principle objective, which intentionally rubs salt in the wound of Klic investors

Although its not in my profile, I OWN KLIC as of Sept! Perhaps it would have made sense to ask before posting your drivel.

In light of Friday's events, your post 4521 was a flame for this thread ...in effect saying (logic highly questionable), 'The sector may be in the doldrums, but Klic just plain sucks.' It was your choice to place that post here; you reap what you sow.

Sounds like YOU are in denial that one of your stocks may be dead money for awhile, if you are getting this upset over post 4521 since I was only passing along what I had heard and HAD PREFACED IT WITH A "FWIW." FWIW means take it or leave it......For what its worth. I didn't post it and say look KLIC is DOOMED! You are questioning my objectivity. Perhaps you should shine the same high-intensity spotlight on yourself.

**************************The post in question #4521*******

FWIW, Sue Billat was on CNBC tonight saying that KLIC does not necessarily indicate the health of the equipment sector. She called it "company specific." She went on to say that their business does not always involve repetitive sales and that products can be used for longer periods of time before they need replacing. Additionally, upgrading of this type of technology is not necessary and products can sit on the self to be used later. She went on to say many purchases were made earlier this year by the Taiwanese and as such they are holding back now.

You're not a cheerleader? Come now Brian. Get real. (For example, you've probably made 500 posts to the AMAT thread in the last 6 months. Show me 5 (1%!) that directly criticize AMAT

Lately the news has been good, Very good in fact. Do you want me to make up stories merely for the appearance of "balance?" Do you want me to post news articles every time 64MB DRAM declines by a penny? Would this make you happy?

That is, since your opinion has been that the analysts have been abysmally wrong about the sector as whole, then it is equally true their almost unanimous negative opinion must be abysmally wrong for Klic as well.

I have a longer time horizon than the analysts so I believe I will be proven right ultimately. In the next 2-3 months, probably not. The bottom line is that Corrigan of LSI Logic recently came out and said semiconductors could be a $1 Trillion industry within a decade; selling these cos. after a 60% is foolish IMHO. What analysts do on a day to day basis is of no concern to me. I post their opinions as part of full disclosure(ie. more info is better than less) and sometimes have fun at their expense. On these I plead guilty.

Or, let me guess, AMAT doesn't get criticized...

When AMAT turns in a performance like KLIC has, then you will hear me start criticizing.

Let's end this here; can we agree on this?

No need to repsond.

Scott,

First let me apologize for any remarks I may have made which were offending. Second, reading last couple of posts made me think that there is true potential for this thread to do good for those seeking information.

I would like to take back my sentense about KLIC losing market share. After reading further, I cannot come to that conclusion. Agree or disagree, many small companies have came up with numbers pleasing investors (SMTL, GSNX, MTSN, ASYT, KLAC, NVLS - all front ends). Some frontend companies disappoint forever - FSII. Backends like TER, KLIC, COHU, EGLS have disappointed investors. Some have hinted at wafer shortage and other front end issues drying up backend little bit (no exact source I can recall).

Just as consolation I would like to present following link:

kns.com Check Jan/00 news links,

After announcing 3 good news in Jan/00, stock took off from 40 to 60 - a 50% gain in less than 20 days!

chart.yahoo.com

Better days are ahead. Best luck. I think its like buying mutual fund - keep averaging (easy said than done)

Disc: I have long position in other SEM like MTSN, EGLS, CMOS(this will be very closely watched for TER like action although its low already), CGNX, VTSS, etc. I do not have position in KLIC or AMAT. Although I share your frustration as many of mine have had similar fate in the past.
