And I don't really know how many speedy tickets Al Gore has had. Do you? Is it really relevant? Yes. Bush was the first when he implied that Gore was behind it at his press conference two nights ago. Bush has continued in the press with allegations that Gore was behind the leak, even though we now know that Gore had nothing to do with it.I absolutely believe getting a DUI 25 years ago is not a ground for disqualification to be President. Life is a journey, and we all grow and mature at different times. It's clear Bush has learned from his youthful indiscretions and has been leading a upstanding life for a long time. This is not a youthful indiscretion. Bush was 30 years old. The attempts to cover Bush's tracks with the DUI go back to at least last year. In 1996, Bush was given a new DL# in an attempt to hide the DUI. There are some really serious questions here regarding Bush's moral character.the mainstream press really researched Al Gore's past, I believe the stench of youthful indiscretions would be far greater than Bush's. But they really don't want to know. I've seen reports of eye witness testimony that he smoked pot on a regular basis up until he went to congress. And some anecdotal evidence from the same eye witness, that he smoked dope long after serving in Congress. Would his getting arrested for possession of pot in his twenties really change your perception of his fitness for duty? I doubt it. Gore has had a few speeding tickets. Speeding tickets and DUIs are two different animals and ocvering up DUIs is far different. Bush either has a propensity to get caught, which would verify that he is dumb, or he is unlucky or he engaged in far more illegal activities than his peers, so he was caught more frequently. None of these are good qualities for a President. Therefore, just like a lot of hollier-than-thou Democrats on this board who have driven a car after consuming 3 beers in an hour. Arrest is really a silly point. And I believe you know it. We're (meaning people who are not voting for Bush, being a democrat is not a prereq.) not running for President, we haven't paid for political attack ads calling into question out opponants moral character. Bush is getting what he eanred with HIS holier than thou act. My goodness, Democrats have elected a probable rapist and still adulate him on stage. How hypocritical can you get? And let's not even get into all the other Democrats (such as Ted Kennedy) who have had far more serious incidents while under the influence of alcohol. Gore is running for President and I never voted for Clinton. As I've said in a previous post. Consuming 3 beers and then driving a car in the mid seventies was VERY common practice. Getting pulled over and paying a fine wasn't thought of as that big of a deal. Times have changed, but we shouldn't forget what the reality of past cultural norms were like. Covering up the incident and lying were a big deal in 1996, 1998 and 1999 and they are big deals now. Especially when a person has portrayed himself as some kind of morally superior being.Have you EVER driven a car after consuming 3 beers? I have never covered up an arrest or lied to the national press about it. Oh, and I'm not even running for President.
