"As one person said...if the earnings of JDSU can't be greeted with a true run then who can....Will CSCO run very long after the announcement ??"

Yes - while it is true that the market did little positive after JDSU's earnings sometimes it takes awhile to turn this locomotive we call the NAZ around and heading upward. While some earnings have disappointed mostly our stocks were 'creamed' because of the negativity in the air. I was encouraged that QCOM's earnings, while they didn't exactly set the world on fire, and could have quite easily been treated in a very negative light - actually received a very positive reaction. And QCOM's stock benefited from it. In short.. I don't think you can judge the market in the next few weeks based on the negativity we saw in October. I think Cisco's earnings - unless they really disappoint - are going to be greeted in a positive light. The market may benefit even more than Cisco. People are just plain tired of the market going down. They want it to go up. Most expect it to go up (i.e. dips will be bought). I believe the locomotive is turning around. Momentum works both way you know.. <g>

I will never understand this game that is played with earnings announcements. I don't think you can reliably fortell what will happen given X Y Z in the earnings release. That is why I don't hold over earnings on short term trades.

By the way, I hope you are making money in some stock because I suspect that you spoil all those that you love. I bet you didn't get into too much trouble for very long. You probably batted those eyes and all was forgiven ;-)
