Not only that. As governor, Bush left blank on the judicial form, when called for jury duty on a DWI case, the "have you ever been accused" question. The judge excused him from duty. Bush later appointed the judge.

DALLAS - Anti-drunken-driving crusaders in Texas say they've known for five years about George W. Bush's drunk driving arrest - but they didn't know the details.
"I gathered it happened a long time ago . . . It was sort of common knowledge," said Bill Lewis, state public-policy liaison for Mothers Against Drunk Driving.


As far as increasing the penalties for the next person, highway deaths because of alcohol have become a bigger problem than in '74. Haven't you ever changed your opinion when a situation has changed?
