i really wonder what the heck happened with your machine?

Dell tech said my explorer kernel was corrupted somehow and I was toast!

where i was able to boot to windows via my jaz rescue disks and let norton repair the damage

I wish you hadn't reminded me of that. I didn't think to try my zip rescue disk(BIG frown). What the hell did I make them for...jeeez! I even mentioned them to the tech when I was looking for another boot disk to try and he said that they probably wouldn't help. I'll never know if norton would have bailed me out. I am a Dunce!
