I'm not embarrassed to be ignorant, because information addresses ignorance. Stupidity believes things because it wants to. Here is pandering: Why "spend" our surplus on the richest 1% when they don't need it? This is pandering: Let's the rest of us soak the fat cats. The top 1% pays 1/3 of all taxes--let's keep soaking them. The top 5% pays 96% of all taxes--let's keep soaking them. They want us to spend "our" surplus on them!" The 95% that is left, who pay 4% of taxes get the message. Let's keep them paying and call it our surplus. That is pandering my intelligent and informed friend. As Clinton says, if you want to live like a republican vote democrat. Cynicism pure and simple. Buying the poor man's vote by promising to take from the rich.

My intellectual friend, here is a quote for the week from today's paper, which is straight to the point:
"What he is actually proposing is a massive re-distribution of wealth from the middle class to the wealthiest few. It is, in fact, a form of class warfare on the behalf of billionaires." This is straight out of "All the King's Men", which I recommend as a great read, btw. But Al Gore is ignorantly playing on mass public ignorance with this type of thinking and pandering. It is ignorant pandering on its face. We know most tax money comes from 5% of the people. Only for pandering purposes is it "redistribution" to billionaires to take less. It reminds me of the commercial of the guy playing 1 vs 1 basketball against NBA players on coke cans, "You look weak out there, lethargic, pathetic." PS, I am no billionaire, nor top 5%er.
