As though your suggestion that the govt. hand out school lunch checks doesn't involve administrative programming cost? No dreaded bureacracy of some kind? You think this would be cheaper? Have you considered that it might increase fraud since there are actual dollars and cents that can go into pockets rather than tacos and sandwiches directly into kid's bellies?...How naieve.

The money now goes directly to the school district. They make the menus and do the purchasing and the food goes into kids stomaches. Relatively simple really.

It sounds like your mad because you didn't like the food. My son's been to four different public schools. Two had bad food, two had good. Some of this is a lunch lady problem. That's what PTAs and local control is for.
