<<Papa Bush went to bat to get junior into the National Guard, where W's only combat was flying into a flock of geese over Corpus Christi. >>

And twice Dubya asked to be sent to Vietnam on fighter pilot duty but was turned down. Probably his dad protecting his son. Blah yada all you want but Bush wanted to go fight. Might be because his father had such a great war record.

Gore spent 5 months in Vietnam smoking as much dope as he could get hold of, and lounging around the pool hall having his clothes washed and folded for him with two body guards assigned to watch over him. To say he served as an enlisted man in the army is absurd.

He went to help daddy win re-election because daddy wanted to use pictures of his boy in army gear as a political weapon against his opponent. It didn't work, and daddy Senator Gore lost. Practically the next day Gore was flown back to the states after serving an unheard of 5 month tour in Vietnam.

Being a fighter pilot in the states was more honorable than a phony tour of duty. Especially, one in which he has lied about repeatedly ("I walked perimeter duty and was shot at") over the years for political purposes.
