>>The Republicans already sold most of our good factory jobs overseas.

The unions did that. Every unionized industry has declined because of their myopia.

Buy a Honda.

Republicans didn't sell jobs overseas. Employment in America is practically the highest its ever been.

Ronald Reagan dramatically reduced our marginal tax rate which help create a climate in which our nations entrepreneurs flourished and started business after business.

The reality is sometimes labor intensive industries move to places where the cost is far cheaper than here. This has been happening for decades, and is a normal part of capitalism and free enterprise. That doesn't make it any easier on those affected, however, the alternative of forcing a company to stay, and only hire American labor, is far more hideous to our economic success as a nation long term.

It's very easy to tell the story of Johnny losing his job because the plant moved to Mexico. Few follow it up by adding that Johnny picked himself up by the bootstraps, and started a small business, or re-trained himself as a computer programmer, or in another industry where labor is in severe short supply.

The story of America is the story of the most resilient workers in the world to deal with change and adversity. And to make the best of whatever situation presents itself. No one owes any one else a wage for simply existing. You must sell your skills, your knowledge and your worth, in a similar way that Coke is sold to a consumer. Demonstrate your value and others will purchase the goods at the price you desire.

Government can help the truly afflicted with specialized re-training programs and other necessities such as short term Welfare, or Day Care. But the predominant emphasis still should be on the individual to do, and not the state to protect at all costs.
