And the US Treasury department is part of the government...

That part that issues the checks and controls the various pools of governmental spending...

That part of the government who has a vested interest in growing the size of government.

So for Larry Summers, or Robert Rubin, to lash out against privatizing part of social security and transitioning it into IRA style retirement plans is somewhat disingenuous.

You all have seen the articles about the public debt increasing DESPITE the surplus we've been running over the past several years.

You all have seen the link (if you bothered to take the time to do so) to the Office of the Public Debt that verifies this increase.

So you have to ask yourself whether you are willing to continue playing this game of "smoke and mirrors" or vote for changing the status quo and resolving issues TODAY, rather that pawning the problem off on later generations.
