<That's why I'm so amused when I hear men talk BIG about taking care of aging parents. They usually have a wife or sister standing behind them somewhere. They better hope she doesn't go missing. >

Maybe we could get a government agency to make sure men pull their weight...

<Oh, really DAK? When you've changed your mother's Depends maybe we'll have something to talk about, because that's where the rubber meets the road.>

As opposed to letting a government nurse do it you mean? What's your point... who do you think should take care of your parents?? How bout the kids?? The whole point of the argument is that if people need help paying for things because they can't afford it THEN they should go for help... many think that this is some sort of god given right that they shouldn't have to pay. It's a massive redistribution based on things like who lingers longer, or who is sicker. My biggest beef which was stated earlier is that NO ONE is willing to talk about what these programs will entitle people to and who is going to pay going foreward. "Healthcare" has evolved from a shot of penecillen to multiple invasive surgeries in the last few years of life plus life support for the last year and neither party is dealing with it.... however, IMO the dems attempt to institutionalize the problem will make it continue to grow with new technologies and medicines, where republicans see this phenom and understand that you can't institutionalize an ever changing system... it's better off when new decisions are made daily at the very bottom.

We just agree to disagree on this.

<I don't think DAK, I know who they are. It's women--overwhelmingly women. And the data bears this out regardless of anecdotal evidence. That's why I'm so amused when I hear men talk BIG about taking care of aging parents.>

And women care for our kids to... not just anecdotally, but data bears this out.... is this a surprise?? I'm so happy you could fill us in on this tidbit... Don't know about your family, but we're a team... and actually my wife is AT LEAST co-captain.

also, it sounds like you should have about 10 votes to my one since your life experience has apparently been a direct pipeline to the ultimate truths.... and mine to folly. An interesting anecdote as well in that just like a true blue dem for you to keep insisting I will need help.... regardless of what I think or say.
