It sure is tough engaging in written pugilism with someone brighter and more articulate than myself. <G>

Gore finding ways to reduce government? Hardly. The entire reduction in government payroll during the last eight years was in defense spending, an area in which even Gore admits we are woefully under "invested."

I agree the middle class is unfairly burdened by taxes. Whose fault is this? It's the tax and spend democrats who would rather increase FICA taxes than face the music and fix the program.

I am not sure you are predicting the correct outcome Tuesday. First, the polls are unbelievably inaccurate these days. I for one just hang up when someone calls and doesn't even know if they are pronouncing my name correctly. Are the polls really representative?

Next, Gore could easily win by electoral votes while losing the popular vote. Bush may lose several battleground states, including Florida, where Gore has scared all of the seniors into believing George W. will harm social security benefits, and MI, MO, and PA, where the race is really too close to call.

And speaking of FL and Soc Security, if we continue on the present course, in 15 years when the boomers start retiring, Social Security will be massively underfunded. Gore is sticking his head in the sand and not even acknowledging the problem.

Dear Zeev: Have you seen the post with support relating to the Gore family involment with Hammer? With Gores heavy drug usage? With the Russian influence over Gore as a result of their being able to blackmail him with stuff they have on him thanks to Hammer? IMHO George B. is a Choir Boy compared to Gore.
As to the reduction in govt. why dont you discuss the increase in the laws and regulations. As to the reduction in personell look to the military. As to GDP being lower as a percentage of GNP, look to the HUGE increase in GNP which allowed that PERCENTAGE reduction. I could just as easily say the National Debt is SHRINKING as a percentage of GNP.
The bottom line is this. Who will be able to unite our country, attack and reduce partisan politics, compromise when necessary on issues to arrive at solutions and represent all Americans not just the RIGHT people. IMHO of the two only Bush. Gores EGO is so huge that he cant allow others to ever get any credit for anything. No one of any STATUS will want to work for him and his ideological tendencies prevent him from working with the other side. IMHO it would be a very big mistake for this country if Gore were elected. And I am not even addressing his Veracity. JDN

Zeev, RE: "I believe the markets had average gains of more than 13% during democratic administrations vs 8% during republican ones over the last 100 years or so."

Hmmm. Could you look at the markets when there was a D/R and R/D Administration, that is when one party held the presidency and another ruled the legilsature?

Compare that to the terms when we were all D or all R. I'm concerned about either party having a mandate in the executive and legislative branches. The checks don't work quite as well, or so it seems.

Whatcha think? dmf

Edit: Sorry I hit respond on the wrong post. Just now catching up.
