Great thoughts from the master. Its funny or sad, depending on your point of view that we can't get our emotions in check when we are investing. My wife is so much better at exit points, she sets her exit point takes her money and says thank you very much and could care less if it runs another 25 %. Her attitude is that she can always buy it back later for cheaper. My thoughts are, I have to have it now, it is going to go up and never will come down. ( believe me I am making huge strides in this area)
That QCOM run last year was incredible It taught me to get out after an 150 pt day. I rode that stock through the 2x1 and then the 4x1 made a lot of money but left a lot at the top and the ride down,I didn't start selling till 132 to 110 on the way down. then I would buy a little thinking it had to go back up I was furious that no one could see that QCOM was the greatest stock in the world.
My style works in only the strongest of bull markets.
Remember Lindy Bill and how mad everyone was when he sold. He had a plan that he was selling at a certain date and a certain time. Looking back my hat is off to him, he had a plan and stuck to it.
I have a plan also, retirement.
We together Penni and I are checking out early. She has been retired about a month now and I will be quitting at the last day of Jan.
The QCOM and JDSU run has changed our lives forever. She has been holding EMC and MSFT (sold at 99) for years.
Any way enough Sunday afternoon musings, back to putting the bird feeders back up. The weather is starting to change in NW Washington.

Good Luck
