Novell was totally commited to driving its technologies into the ASP !!!!

The publish and subscribe system I was thinking of, was lower level than that. It was also started by other parts of Novell (NDS and GroupWise teams) for their own use.

>>what the heck is going on in Novell?

Novell's stuck with the same problem many development companies are, where the tools chosen become out of date before they can deliver solutions on top of them. Many enhancements were planned to improve NDS and its API use. These have been dropped in favor of improving the LDAP interface level instead. The end result will be a better solution as NDS/eDirectory becomes LDAP/eDirectory, but the down side is a long delay.

Currently if you want 'cross platform' NDS events you have to look at DirXLM. With NDS 8.5 you could do it via scanning for changes as you can now index a field (such as date) and search against the index.

>>Your comments seem to sound that you are sceptical on the >>ASP offering situation there.

I'm sceptical about much of what Novell does, but am far less likely to accept Microsoft's story.

integration with credit card and merchant services transaction networks, and application
programming interfaces (APIs) to allow developers to connect to the commerce services
engine.

provides a reporting tool, or you can integrate reporting tools you already use.
