JC - Your post is sadly reminiscent of a host of posts on the DELL thread in 1998. "Never sell DELL", "If I had been diversified I would have missed the runup of the great stock of the 90s", and so on. I diversified anyway, starting in fall of 1998 and completing that in March of this year.

Greed is the enemy of long term investing. Another maxim - no one ever went broke taking a profit.

In the early days of my investing life I also put most of my eggs in a small number of baskets. I got lucky and it worked out for me, but it's also easy to have some or all of those gains evaporate.

Anyone who has gotten close to their investment goals and wants to preserve capital rather than maximize gains should diversify.
