rofl, you are omnipresent... (I am having the same discussion with this guy on the JDSU thread... )

One persons opinion, but I believe what happened 10 years ago to Japan is they failed to invest in technology. The USA otoh had no other hope but tech since it was an emerging industry and our old industries like machine tools etc were too far behind to catch up. Japan made almost NO software investments for example... they are hindered by the japanese language as well as their management hierarchy and new industries just didn't happen for them. The US economy started to modernize to support the tech workforce - for example stock options as compensation for the flatter tech workforce and expanding H1B visas etc., these things were all part of building the high tech economy in the US that Japan DID NOT DO.

I am a fundamentalist so you might call this rationalization... in fact I expect you to do so... however in the end valuations mirror fundamentals I believe and it will take a fundamental shift in the US high tech economy to deflate strong tech stocks... I don't see any for now (of course these things are easier to see in hindsight).

Their banking industry is a disaster! They still have not done structural reform to clean up their banks.

Huge overhang from problem loans.

Collateral is underwater...

I could go on and on.

Do some research and you will find they still have some long term problems to work out that will take some serious work.

Only then their markets might have a chance to come back.

Feshbach,

Been watching your posts. Perhaps you could net it out for the thread. Could you state your position on CSCO and why in one post? I haven't seen much substance but lots of unsupported comments. Please clarify for the thread.
