GOP congress was against paying down the debt and wanted tax breaks instead. Remember Dick Armey's famous speech in 1993? "The Clinton economic proposals will bring down this nation and I for one will not be held responsisble!" The conservatives hate it that the liberal-moderate Democrats are actually more fiscally conservative than they are. Clinton is the first president to pay down the debt in decades. Let's allow Al a chance to continue that please and let's keep GW Lush III out of power at least until he shows he can clean up the mess in Texas. 45th - 50th in every major social category amongst 50 states. Even education they're down near the bottom.
