I have to say that I see you as truly believing in your cause, as opposed to some people on this thread. You do believe that government can make a difference. That is where we differ. I think that less is more. I think that government has made it possible for people to fall into and remain in a permanent underclass within society by removing the motivation to be producers, and by making it OK for people to screw up their lives by coddling them.

It is true that many people fall into the underclass through no fault of their own. However, the questions remain, what has government done, and what can government do to solve these problems? I think very little.

Bill and Al do not want to solve the problems. They want the issues. It's a shame for the democrats that the Great Society was such a drain on the economy that it failed, otherwise they would be able to rely on the masses of government dependents to vote them in year after year.
