At least all the talk about Amazon.com selling dollars for 90 cents has passed, since lately they cost a buck-twenty something.

As for management guidance, apart from (ill-advised, we now know) early forecasts of pending profitability, seems as though they've maintained credibility in most investors' eyes. People haven't sold due to management (lack of) credibility; they've sold because they don't feel it's prudent to own the stock now (then).

Let's check in with this one, when they report for Q4:

iredge.com

Fourth Quarter 2000 Expectations

· Sales are expected to be between $950 million and $1.05 billion.

· Gross margin is expected to be seasonally down compared to the third quarter of this year, although up strongly over the fourth quarter of 1999.

· Pro forma operating losses are expected to be between 5% and 8% of sales.

· Cash and marketable securities at year-end are expected to be over $1 billion.

It's this last one any short would be most interested in, right?
