if they're sitting on a billion in cash, they probably won't need to go to the debt or SPO markets next year (but Bezos has been already hinting that he's planning on going back to the trough once again).

Exactly. Projecting current figures it seems that if they were to be anywhere above $600 million by year-end they wouldn't have to tap the debt market next year.

Thus the bogus 1 billion cash and marketable securities could actually turn out to be half that much...
