They need to get out of the mindset that farming is the only thing to do. It takes at least 2,000 acres to be profitable. It's happened in Illinois, I bet it could happen in Alabama.

Sorry, I missed the premium crops. It' a lot of work but small acreages can make it on premium crops. Legwork, hitting stores, showing them you have a better product. Farmer's Markets. Better or varied, ie herbs, veggies. Market to Market shows a lot of this on PBS
