Hi Ab,

well, I don't know about the other issues but I still believe the economy and the stock market's future lies very simply in the briefcase of Allan Greenspan.

WHY do you think Clinton was so great. Name one thing that he did that was great. I can only think of one thing and that is he added land to our National Parks and wilderness areas, which I applaud him for, but beyond that, I can't think of anything. I'm not trying to be antagonistic, I just trying to understand your thinking. What did he do that merits "best president"

give the credit to the hounding press

a guy cannot do any of the following in peace anymore, and run for president:

- kill someone who opposes him
- have a good lay on the sideline
- enjoy some decent Peruvian blow
- party hearty with his buds and a few Buds
- take a little green under the table

Kennedy would never have even run for president, if today

FDR would never have run

but Truman would... he would stick it to the press

Abstract, I think the country and the current system of politics has yielded exactly what it deserves...mediocre leadership. Right now the system can't tolerate a leader. Can you imagine the press going after a Roosevelt, a Jefferson, or a Kennedy while they were in office...with the current overdose of media. It's not clear to me that men or woman who have the capability to lead are willing to put up with all this crap and run for office. You need brains, emotional toughness, compassion, the ability to hire great people and a circumspect view of the world to be successful in this job.

Whoever wins, they are going to need the country's help and support. Dumbing down the presidency is dangerous in the the long run.

Having said all this, I am thankful I can vote without anyone taking a shot at me or take any shit from bigots. I had number of friends in the Army who were killed; they won't be voting on Tuesday.....this always humbles me and I am reminded of what a democracy is all about at its core.
