KLP: Sounds delicious. Unfortunately, I'm allergic to MSG. But I could share one of my favourite fast dishes while I'm here:

Prepare a cup of macaroni until it's "almost" done (ie) not quite tender. Drain off most of the water. Add a can of shrimp (juice and all). Add a half-can of mushroom soup. A gob of butter (heaping teaspoon should suffice). Add Curry Powder, Ginger, and Garlic Powder to taste (3-for-2-for-1 ratio or thereabouts). Simmer for 5 minutes, checking twice to see that you aren't low on water. Poof. A nifty dish.

KLP: And if you are wondering whether you can use organic unprocessed sugar in canning, the answer is YES.

A friend brought me some fresh Okanagan Apples a few weeks ago, and they were going rotten faster than I could eat them. So, I figured why not try and make apple sauce?

Not being one who likes to follow a recipe, I bought some Rapunzel Rapidura Whole Organic Sugar, some jars, and went to work.

I had to call my Mom a couple of times because I wanted to do things right (like how long to boil the jars, how full to fill them, etc). I made up the recipe as I went, and it turned out great. So, at least for apple sauce, the organic sugar is fine.

~K...thanks for the wonderful oyster recipe......I have added it to my collection! I guess oysters and scallops are two of my favorite seafoods and I love to cook with them. I can't wait to try this! I know they are swimming in the butter and wine, but do you put them on a cracker of some sort and do you use any additional sauce?
