wily,

You made a lot of senses all right. Unfortunately, I didn't know that I could upgrade the new harddrive directly by booting straight from the CD-ROM. I bought the upgrade version of Win2K. I originally thought I needed to run the upgrade from Windows 98 system; that was why I did the copying. I only found out about the booting from CD-ROM by accident after my installation was done. Oh well...

Regardless, I still need another internet access like netzero to help me download the Win2K Service Pack 1 from Microsoft.com using my Win2K system. After downloading the Win2K Service Pack 1, Win2K automatically executed the installing of Service Pack immediately. Who know, perhaps, if I downloaded the Win2K Service Pack under Win98, the download manager is smart enough not to execute the installation over the Win98. If that is the case, then it makes sense to download the Service Pack onto the old drive before even attempting to upgrade the new OS.

As to my other graphic cards, I've to give up my 3 Diamond Stealth 3D 2000 PRO due to incompatibility with Win2K. I guess when you did away with the resource manager under Win98, you also did away with all these legacy cards that required the resource manager to make them work. However, due to my good fortune that someone here in this thread mentioned about the Appian multi-port graphic card, I went to ebay.com and bidded successfully for one. I learned that the Appian 4-port graphic card has a great software to help you manage those multi-monitor windows. I could never pay that kind of money for a brand new Appian card (over $800!); so buying from Ebay.com makes a lot of sense to me. :-)

Cheers!
