hi jay yes, that's the way to search for and find the file. i have win95 on my other pc, and i know that what you are recounting probably applies to dial up networking (dun) and that you probably need the dun1.3 update or something like that. i just don't have those details in my memory recall at this moment. as for your reinstall questions, i am not comfortable telling you to go with that. i've heard others say that you can just go right over top of your old version and that will fix everything, but i don't have the knowledge to say i agree. hopefully someone else may feel better directing you to do so. a quick check of my win95 files turns up these links: microsoft.com microsoft.com hang on to them, as i think they may come into play. right now i have to log off. i'll try to catch up with you tomorrow. meanwhile, if you have the time you can check out the release notes found on the above sites and do some reading to familiarize yourself with what they both entail. hope i'm at least on the right track here with you, jay. :) mark
