Prophet, here's an analogy that works in many languages ... "walking on eggs".

IMHO, SNDK did their deal with Hitachi because they were "walking on eggs". SNDK collects a few bucks from INTC and others for the same reason. And, when all is said and done, everyone may have to cross-license everyone else because they might otherwise step on someone else's IP "eggs".

The money to be made is huge. And most of what will be made or lost will be determined in the negotiations.

Craig

There may be more than one flavor of MLC.

I don't know who licenses SanDisk's MLC technology other
than the arrangements already announced with Toshiba
(as part of the FlashVision JV) and the recently
announced (expanded) agreements with Hitachi.
