My hunch is that if shrub takes it, the Saudi's will open the taps wide open and oil will fall. But before then we'll get a hay making political event, such as a Bush trip to the Middle East. The joker in the pack is sa-dem, of course. But the SPR can outlast him, regardless.

Of course I'm assuming that the Saudi's actually do have a few million barrels of excess capacity - who knows if that's true. But if it is, it will be tough to see any reason why the fed shouldn't cut rates.

i thought Greenjeans explained already why it's a bad idea to use SS funds for stock market investments...

wait for the election outcome to be spun bullishly, no matter what the outcome actually is. imo apart from having an effect on certain sectors, the outcome will be ignored by the stock market. unless perhaps the presidency and the house are won by the same party - the market probably won't like that.

bonds are predicting a Shrubs victory here...
