The difference is that the Executive branch, and the 'Justice' Department in particular, needs to be thoroughly purged. Even if an overdose of antacid pills can be fatal, balancing an existing acidic state is still a good idea.

Bush is obviously entirely incompetent to be President, but the job itself has entirely too much power to give to anyone. Gore, on the other hand, testifies to his identity as a corrupt socialist every time his wooden lips click together. Even worse, he WANTS the job, and wants to ACCOMPLISH something.

Being in Massachusetts, I can vote for Browne without even the slightest fear of affecting the outcome.
