I didn't take offense; but if you aren't a native Texian you would not know some of the unique things about the state. (most transplants don't know what I related)

BTW, for best poll results, check out www.battleground.com
voting very heavy in Texas; almost 30% of the registered voters voted early in my precinct

Your points with regard to Texas are all well taken. I only picked Texas as an example because "dwight martin's" profile indicated that he is from Texas. I wasn't trying to criticize Texas in any way. I was merely trying to use an example that Mr. Martin might be able to relate to since it appears to be his home state. From his reply, I can see that I made little impression on his closed mind.

My hat's off to Texas! A fine state with many fine people, though I would not count Mr. Martin among them.

****************************************************

I was recently in your state (actually, driving through from Spokane to Missoula). I saw lots of my land out there. It made me feel really good about being an American.

My hat's off to Idaho, a truly fine state with very few people, many of whom I am sure are fine (I don't know Mr. Lu, so I can't say how truly fine or not he is), and every one of whom (including Mr. Lu) is fulsomely represented in Washington.

It also seems that Mr. Lu seems to have lost his taste, or talent, for the substantive matters that our little discussion once featured. Consider his message above. In his first sentence, he concedes that his use of Texas as an example was (as indeed it is) completely misplaced, while in the second and third sentences, he takes me to task for not allowing his confessedly bogus example to change my mind, which according to him, is ipso facto closed.
