I just got a news wire from QCOM stating that the TIA had just published the 3G CDMA 1xEV standard. They are really cooking right now, having just released the standards for 1X MC CDMA too. How are they moving through the standards process so effectively. This is a real accomplishment for 3GPP2, which includes CWTS in China, ARIC and TTC in Japan, TIA in North America, and TTA in Korea.

This progress is in sharp contrast to the progress for GPRS and EDGE. The enthusiasm seems to be fading for Tero's dream for these interim standards for 3G. I don't think it will be too much longer before 1X and 1X eV will be recognized as superior technology overlays for GSM, TDMA, and iDen systems.
